This stunning little cabin is the summer house of Minna Jones , stylist and writer of the blog Time of the Aquarius. Its tradition for many Scandinavians to leave the city and spend the precious summer months closer to nature in simple cabins. These cabins are often located by the lakes or on islands, and are often very basic without running water or power. This is often the charm with these places, allowing you to spend the long bright nights outside or with only candle light.
Minna Jones is a talented stylist based in Finland, who document her various renovations of both the cabin and her city home through her blog Time of the Aquarius. Its a great source for inspiration both for DIY and mastering a minimalist, nordic palette.
This cabin, lined with waxed birch plywood throughout, is a contemporary take on these traditional cabins. Using the light plywood and timber floors for texture and warmth, the rest of the fittings and furniture are strictly in white or black. The selected pieces are a mix of cheap and designer pieces - such as the Sinnerlig Cork bench from IKEA ( that I wrote a post on earlier here), and the STRING shelf system ( which I also wrote a post on here)
I love this cabins simple yet clever interior, but perhaps most of all the full height windows which connect directly with the quintessential Nordic nature outside.
