The latest collection from IKEA is a collaboration with renowned Swedish designer Ingegerd Råman, best known for her work in glass and ceramics. This collection is a focus on handmade, simple, everyday objects, in a natural monochromatic colour way.
Using glass, ceramics and natural fibres such as bamboo and rattan, the products are handmade and each item is unique and slightly imperfect. The design process involved paring back on the unnecessary, refining until only the bare minimum was left - the beauty is in the functionality and simplicity.
As in many times in design - it is not what you add but what you remove - a design ethos I try to apply in my daily work.
This stunning collection is due for release in Australia around May 2016.
