When architects embark on designing their own homes, you know that the results are going to be amazing. This timber house in Aarhus, denmark is no different. The creative couple behind Weinberg Arkitekter embarked on turning an existing 1940's cottage in Aarhus into their family home, cleverly designing a house that is both minimalist, open yet warm and welcoming.
I love the concrete floors and the use of warm oak paneling throughout the house. The black painted timber exterior gives it that stark, crisp scandinavian feel, and the angular joinery and lounge room seating displays a bold and confident design approach.
This house was built in 2006 and won the Aarhus Council architectural prize in 2008 - a great testament to how good design doesnt age, and we still today - almost 10 years later - take inspiration from this architects home.
Enjoy! - Jess
